| I am engaged to be married to Jamie Lynn Hairfield!
My mega sunburn from our trip to Florida PALES in comparison to the joy I feel, knowing that Jamie has accepted to marry me. What a whirlwind weekend, complete with our own rental convertable, lighthouses located surprisingly far from the beach, a romantic backyard swing, rapidly beating hearts, and Brazilian missionaries. I feel like a new man . . . a fiance man!

| I
thought you all might be interested in praying for me this summer as I
go to Papua New Guinea
for a short term trip through New Tribes Missions.
I will be
based at the New Tribes facility with a main focus of learning
linguistic skills and translation work. My background in Speech
Language Pathology should be a benefit to me in that. The team will
also be learning cultural studies and how to present the gospel to
unreached groups. The last week or so we will be splitting up and going
deeper into the interior to join with a tribe and utilize the skills
we've acquired. It's going to be an exciting
trip with a lot of potential, but only as I remain focused on doing all
that I can with the time given me there through the Lord's strength and
discernment. I greatly welcome your prayers as I take this further step
toward entering into what God has planned for me. I've been thinking
about the foreign mission field for some time now, taking every
opportunity to embark on short term trips. Please pray that I would
stay on the path of righteousness, in tune with my God, so that He may
cultivate me further and teach me all the ways in which He wants me to
glorify and serve Him. | | |
| So there ARE good aspects to having a car stolen. The high schooler
security guards at Target get to feel like they're in a real criminal
investigation, I don't have to clean my car for Jamie's visit, and I am
forced to quickly warm up to the idea of buying another car. Frankly,
something like this was going to HAVE to happen before I would buy
another one. Might as well happen now. Other possitives include having
reletively little in my car to steal besides two Bibles, so pray the
thief will read. I also get the opportunity to have a good attitude
about the whole thing when talking to everybody at work about it. Pray
that I will be very bold with where my patience comes from and be able
to testify to the Lord's grace and power through this. ALSO, I can
rejoice in a trial of my faith to work patience! Yet another example of
James chapter 1 at work. I already have some leads on possible cars
as well as rental cars AND my friend is letting me borrow his truck
until I get back on my feet . . . I mean, wheels. What could be better?
